Technical assistance
WASH
The Human Cabinet expertise in Water Sanitation and Hygiene drives community change through innovative project design and planning. Since 2014, it has supported INGOs and governments around the five continents with infrastructure planning and social behaviour change to respond to public health risks.
The Cabinet’s flagship intervention is System Behaviour Change in WASH, based on socio-anthropological research to deliver creative communication, information, and learning campaigns which enable effective, community-driven change in water and sanitation perceptions and practices.
Protection
Protection and human rights are central to our work. With 20 years of experience, we help organizations create strategies for social protection, especially during natural disasters and conflicts, focusing on children, women, and people with disabilities.
Our expertise spans General Protection, Child Protection, and Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS). By translating humanitarian principles into practical actions, we empower communities to enhance their self-protection and agency. Our approach uniquely combines Child Protection with MHPSS, creating impactful projects that address both immediate and long-term needs.
Education (in Emergencies)
Since 2005, our experts have designed innovative solutions for volatile contexts like Iraq, Syria, and South Sudan. Our approach encompasses formal and non-formal education, accelerated learning, and social-emotional support, helping students continue learning despite hostile environments, lockdowns, and conflicts.
Beyond program implementation, we provide comprehensive support to our partners. This includes education program design, review, and evaluation, as well as technical assistance during implementation. Our specialists also help organizations secure large-scale funding by ensuring strong negotiation cases for our partners.
Disaster Risk Management
Our team, as part of the humanitarian system, has led disaster preparedness, response efforts, and recovery operations worldwide, including Bangladesh, Syria, Lebanon, the Philippines, Ethiopia, Malawi, and Latin America, while writing proposals and evaluating programs and systems.
Our expertise extends beyond field operations; we’ve crafted proposals for leading organizations and conducted comprehensive evaluations of critical programs and systems. These include Early Warning and Early Action mechanisms, Risk Monitoring frameworks, Anticipatory Action strategies, and Community-based monitoring systems.
Sport for Development (S4D)
Since 2017, the Cabinet’s senior staff have collaborated with TdH, the Olympic Refugee Committee, and UEFA to enhance protection and safeguarding in sports. In addition to publications addressing psychosocial support and protection through and in sport, our team members’ articles have been featured in leading international S4D platforms.
